Hopefully  we will be able to make the 900 mile trek next August, but I do agree with the seating for all if not most idea.  Next year will be my wifes 26th anniversary with Multiple Sclerosis and each year has taken it's toll, with regard mobility.

At the 45th reunion when all were asked to get up and circulate she felt badly that she was depriving someone else of a seat.  We are their for a good time and regardless of anyones issues they should not be made to feel that way.  Let's see if a venue can be found that would have enough seating for most of the attendee's.

And on to a new and positive topic! On Dec.12th, 2014, at the VFW POst 2892 on Middle St. in Fairhaven, Rick Cote, along with Sax Player Lenny DelLima will be joining other musicians from the band "Old School" and top notch singers for a Christmas Concert and dinner starting at 6:30 PM with cocktails from 6:30 ~ 7:30 Pm, and dinner from 7:30 ~ 9:00 PM. This is a special VFW Christmas... to benefit that chapter. The featured singers will be Radio Personality and singer Taylor Cormier of WBSM, 1420 AM and vocalist Cee Gomes from the Bristol, RI area. This will be a Cabaret Show, featuring several differrent genres of great music from the past. Taylor sings many Sinatra titles, as well as Tony Bennett, Dean Martin and others, while Celia , who has a magnificent voice, does many great songs from our youth, from the likes of Karen Carpenter and many more. Many of you will remember Lenny DelLima, who now resides in Maine. He is a sax player of tremendous talent, that played with the Graduates, Charley Quital and many other standouts across the country, and in recent times has played with BB King, Big Pete Pearson and other fine musicians. Our classmate Rick Cote, now semi-retired, is coming out to sing, play his keyboard and bring back some of his favorites, such as Route 66, his trademark song. Tickets are $20.00 per person, all inclusive. That includes a full course dinner. Tickets are limited to 200 and are going quickly. This will be a chance to celebrate Christmas with many of our classmates and hear some fantastic music. There will be a Christmas Carol Sing Along as part of the program, however Mitch Miller, for obvious reasons, will not be in attendance. Tickets are available at the VFW at 109 Middle St., Main St., Fairhaven, MA. The telephone number there is:  (508) 997-1707. Looking forward to seeing many of you there to share good tidings and friendship!    Jim Casey    PS   If you please, call me at (508) 789-7124 for tickets....

So sorry to read in the Standard Times today, of the passing of our beloved classmate, Ruth Perry Bates.  Her obituary was a testiment of her wonderful life on so mant levels.  She was loved and respected by so many and she seemed to have spread cheer and joy her whole life.  I remember her fondly as I'm sure many of you do.God bless her and her family.

As a member of the 45th planning group, I will take part of the blame for the few seats, We thought that if there were seats for all, then people would group up and not meet everyone. So for that idea we failed, If you folks group up and snub the rest this time, then it will be your fault that you missed someone. I guess we can't have it both ways.

PS I didn't want to meet and talk to some of you anyway. So there!

Beloved classmates,

Yes, with the passing of time we have to say "you will be missed",,and shed a tear for those that are no longer with us. But while we are here let's enjoy life and most of all the pleasure of associating with our classmates. I have not seen any website that can compare with the magnificent info and update and reminscences of ours, nevermind the dedication of those who created and update it.. I see a pure act of love. Anyone of you that has been on a committee knows the time and yes sometimes aggrevations that going along with planning get togethers. Hats off to all of you in appreciation for all you do. This chapter of our life in not overwith until we can no longer smell the roses.

I was very saddened to see that Ruth Perry passed away this week. I remember her fondly as a cheering partner and friend. She was alway positive and upbeat where ever we were. She had an accomplished life and lived it to the fullest. May she now have peace in her heart. God Bless her family at this most difficult time. You will be missed.

I was very sad to see posts about Ruth Perry Bates passing away.  She was friendly to all.  I admired her and enjoyed conversations with her sometimes.  She was so gifted.  I was hoping we'd see her at our 50th.  May she rest in peace.

So sorry to hear about Ruth's death.  She was such a nice person, very thoughtful and always smiling.  Ruth was in my senior home room class.  I had a secret crush on her, but then again, who didn't.  May she rest in peace.

May your memory be eternal Ruth.   The fondest memories that I have are ice skating on the pond, all the chats we had walking home from school and running through the water coming out of the hydrant water with our children. You made so many people happy!

Thank you also for mentioning the October 31st passing of Ben Gilmore. Many of us from Acushnet and the ROTC will remember him fondly. Ben went on to earn an engineering degree from UMass Dartmouth and then to put his skills, talents and infinite capacity for hard work to use in becoming a very successful cranberry grower. He eventually led the Ocean Spray gowers association and serve his adopted hometown of Rochester in a wide variety of official and quasi-official roles. He and his wife Susan also raised two lovely daughters and were blessed with a brace of grandkids. Ben also became a notable cook, raconteur and --- this one suprised me --- poet. At his memorial service yesterday, it was repeatedly stated that he enriched the life of each person he ever encountered --- that one didn't surprise me.

I loved seeing Ruth tooting around Mattapoisett in her little, bright yellow,VW beetle. Such a tiny car for such a tall girl!! She was very involved in our town's activities.I know she will be missed.

Just read the wonderful obituary printed online from the Mattapoisett Wanderer. Just a tribute to a life well lived. She will be missed.

I became friends with Ruth at Keith Jr. High, with the same homeroom.  She always referred to me as her little sweetie ( for obvious height differences).  From her obit it appeares that she remained that same person we all knew from NBHS, high energy, always on the go.  I'm sure heaven has received a smiling caring angel.  May God bless her, rest in peace.

New Message Thread ...

I am sure there are many like me who are not 'on Facebook'.  I am also willing to bet that you know a classmate who is not 'registered ' on this website.  If so, please copy and paste the reunion info and inform them of the class plans for the 50th reunion this August 14, 15, 16 weekend. Send a mesaage through what ever means they may use, email, snail mail, text, phone call, or pony express, but let's try to let everyone know so that they can plan to attend.

Thanks to all my classmates of 50 years ago for the wonderful response of funds and prayers for my Grandchildren twins, Elizabeth Cadence and Grayson Pierce.  They are very sick, although their pictures on the Crowd Funding Site do not show it right now.  We are hoping for a good result from Enzyme Replacement Therapy and from Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplants soon to be started at the University of Minnesota. Even with some success there, however, the twins lives, however long or short, will be filled with obstacles as they grow older. Expenses are enorrmous but their smiles are also enormous. Please visit the "Hurler Huddle" link shared in the "Sunshine Club" section of this web siteto see their precious smiles . Again, thank you all very much for your contributions and prayers.

Dear Classmates of newbedford65.com,

Many thanks to any and all of you who have donated funds and prayers to "The Hurler Huddle".  Your response speaks to the goodness and generosity of all my fellow classmates of 50 years ago.  The twins are currently driving East with their Mom and Dad into the current "Siberian Express" as I write. They should arrive in Minneapolis, MN in about 3 days and will begin the process of chemotherapy and then stem cell transplant over the next several months, without which their little lives would be limited to their toddler years. We are hopeful that these smiling little babies will come home to us and live somewhat normal lives surrounded by people who love them dearly.  They are beacons of light in any darkness.  Thank You all again. I am overwhelmed by such good friends.

Ray DeTerra
