Once again, thanks to all for your thoughts ad prayers for my Grandtwins, Grayson and Elisabeth who are undergoing Bone Marrow Stem Cell Transplant procedures at the University of Minnesota. Elisabeth is out of the hospital and Grayson will be discharged this week.  Both of their transplants are apparently successful at this point and they will be at the Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis for another few months for observation and testing. There are many journal entries and pictures on the site "caringbridge.com" where one has to get a user name and password and then access "Grayson and Elisabeth".  It's all free and a very heart warming story. Thank all of you so much!!

FYI -

Sad news.  In our Yearbook on page 20 (at the very bottom), is a photo of our late Science teacher at NBHS, Mr. Henry S. Cembalisty. Sorry to be the bearer of such sad news.  He obituary was in the New Bedford S-T newspaper this past weekend. (April 18 /19)

Best regards, to one and all,

Ray Ferreira

Pam and I will be spending the entire weekend of the Reunion in New Bedford and was wondering where other attendees will be staying.  Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Have the same question. What recommendations for motels? B & B's?  any discounts for reunion?

05/20/15 02:07 PM #163

James Casey

No discounts that I'm aware of other than the traditional AAA, AARP, Military or other similar types. The Reunion is in the height of the season too. Seaport has all newly renovated rooms (Old Skipper on the Fhvn. Bridge). Hampton in in Fhvn. is good as well as the other Hampton next to White's in Westport There's a new spot right on the Waterfront that you'll have to check on as far as the exact name and details. There's the old Holiday Inn on Hathaway Rd., NB operating under a new name/ownership. For my $$$ the Seaport would be my 1st choice. Newly finished, easy access, restaurant and close to everywhere we will be heading. Good Luck! Jim Casey

The Seaport Inn and Marina is all booked. I tried to change my reservation that I made in January and found nothing else is available available now. Just sayin'

I want to find something less pricey and in a good area, as I will be travelling alone. Any offers???

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Karen

Karen,

Did you try Hampton inn in Westport

Or best western in Dartmouth?

I'll be staying at the Hampton Inn in Fairhaven.  Nice place, I've stayed there before.  Free breakfast and very clean.

Nancy asked me to post the following information:

****,Fairfield Inn across from the Waterfront has rooms ...Single $209.  Double $219 to $229.  Hampton Inn Fairhaven has double bed room for $199.00, $219.00 for mini suite....

As was said before, this is the height of the tourist season, so it's hard to find a place.  I'm staying with family. Perhaps classmates can share rides or cars that might help.

I always stay at the Best Western in Westport.   It's very nice. If I attend, that's where I will stay. Get cancellable reservations so that if you find a better place, like a friend's house or apartment, you can ditch the reservation at BW.  Fall River isn't too far away either. There's a nice hotel (comfort Inn I think) just over the Braga Bridge.  That will be my second choice.

Unfortunately, I will not be attending the re-union.  The situation with the twins is still very tentative and requires my presence elsewhere. I hope my advice in this post of May 21 will benefit some fellow classmates.

Time is flying.  I attended teh Dartmouth Street Elementary School, now a funeral home, up to grade 3, then the Congdon Street School befopre going on to Roosevelt Jr. High.

By the way I found the program for the last ROTC Ball in a box that come out of my mother's house after she passed.  I'll bring it along.

See in two months!
