Roland Poirier

Graduated from UMASS Dartmouth in 1969. Served in the U.S. Army from September 1969 - March 1972 attaining the rank of Specialist 5th Class while serving in Germany. Employed as an auditor with the U.S. General Accounting Office from 1969 - 1997. Employed as a Medicare fraud investigator with Blue Cross Blue Shield from 1998 - 2005. From 2005 - 2013, worked part-time as a sales clerk at the Yarmouthport Village Store on Cape Cod. Moved to Pinehills in Plymouth, MA in 2013. Upon moving to Plymouth from Cape Cod, worked part-time at AutoFair Honda in Plymouth delivering auto parts. Currently live back on Cape Cod in Cummaquid, MA with my wife Fran. In 2017, had to put down our 17 year old yellow lab "Gracie ". In 2019, rescued our 5 year old beagle "Lily" from the Brewster Animal Rescue League. She's a sweetheart 🐶, but a real hand full. Nothing really new. Both my wife and I are in good health. Enjoy playing golf together and hiking with Lily. And, living on Cape Cod, we are beach people. Two years ago, my wife and I celebrated our 25th. We took a beautiful two week trip to Italy and saw some amazing sites in Rome, Pompeii, Naples, Isle of Capri, Sorrento, Florence, Venice etc. What a trip. A few years earlier, we took a wonderful Viking River Cruise in France. One of our destinations was Normandy. During WW II, my dad landed in Normandy with General Patton’s tank corp. He subsequently went on to help liberate Paris. The American cemetery brought tears to my eyes. So many lives were lost.

Driving my 1951 Ford and asking the gas station attendant to check the gas and fill the oil. Trying to convince my H.S. sweetheart that I was the right guy for her. Never worked out but many fond memories.
