Sad news. another Classmate has passed away. . Richard Pereira, 74, of South Dartmouth, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was the loving husband of Erika A. (Klein) Pereira with whom he shared 48 years of marriage. Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Arthur and Alice (Duarte) Pereira, he spent his earlier years in New Bedford before moving to Dartmouth. Following graduation from New Bedford High School, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Known to most as Richie, he spent a majority of his career working as a quality control inspector at Morse Cutting Tools. Richie enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, his wife Erika, taking trips to Cape Cod, Newport, and Florida. He loved to laugh and enjoyed the simple things in life: watching the sunset over the ocean, eating pizza and hot fudge sundaes, and people watching in crowded places. Richie will be most remembered for his sense of humor and willingness to give to others in need. Above all, Richie was a proud father and grandfather. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Amy Schleinkofer and her husband Otto of Berkley, MA and Stacy Linnehan and her husband Gregory of Kingston, MA. He adored his four grandchildren: Preston, Emma, James and Aiden. His Funeral will be held on Monday, March 28, 2022 at 9 a.m. from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
