I lost touch with Phyllis Whitworth at NBHS, but I knew her from Normandin Jr. High School. I remember August 1962. I saw Phyllis and her friends at the Portuguese Feast in the North End. We all walked around, went on some rides and talked about starting class next month at NBHS. There was an excitement about starting High School.
It got very late, we could not find her friends, so I walked her home. That was a long time ago. Later, in 1980, my wife and I drove to Rochester MA to look at a home we wanted to buy. When the realtor introduced us to the current owners, it was Phyllis and her husband. Small world. We never did buy that home, instead we bought a home in Mattapoisett.
I was sad to see that Phyllis is one of our deceased classmates. I am sure Phyllis is fondly missed by family and friends. Phyllis died in Rochester, MA on Jan. 10, 2007. She was 59 years old.
