On nice days Arlene and I used to walk home from Normandin with a small group of friends. Sometimes we would stop at Central Pharmacy at their soda fountain for a cherry or vanilla coke. We didn't alway have the money to each have one so we would share. Occasionally we would splurge and have a frappe. She was a happy girl with a good sense of humor.

Arlene was one of my very best friends, who I have never forgotten. She was kind and sincere and trusted me to give her haircuts! She was loved by all who knew her and I cherish my memories of her.

Arlene was in junior high, high school, and college with a group of us.  I picked her up to go to SMTI on a regular basis.  She was not well in college.  She was quite ill in fact, but she went to class as long as she could. She was in Boston for therapy.  Poor sweet girl was very sick.  I went with her parents to visit her.  They released her that day and told the family there was nothing else to be done.  I remember it was a long, sad drive home.  This all happened about 52 years ago. I still remember her like it was yesterday.
