I remember Brad so fondly from our Senior English Class.. We had Miss Tripp for a teacher, and we had more fun and laughs in that class. Passing notes back, and also in The big Study Hall. That was just the best!!! Rest in peace Brad. Nancy Otis Cusson
For some reason that I cannot remember, I found myself in what I think was a remedial reading class with Miss Finnell (I remember her face and bad hair but had to look her up in our yearbook). I don't know how I got there, because I was a great reader (I think I was there to learn how to speed read). Bradford, who really was there to learn how to read better was my seat mate (probably because my last named started with a "B" and his was with a "C"). I quickly realized that he needed a lot of help and started giving him the answers (in a most discreet way, of course) so he wouldn't have to suffer Miss Finnell's verbal condemnation. He was such a sweet boy and I really liked him very much. In my yearbook he wrote the usual "to a great girl" etc., but added, "I will never forget what you did for me" and to tell the truth, it's all these years later and I have never forgotten him.
I was in a couple of classes with Brad, and if he wasn't making you laugh, he always had a smile on his face. I met him once several years later and he told me that he was working as a fisherman out of New Bedford.
Brad and I played alot of basketball and football on the same teams and sometimes against one another. We had alot of fun and he was super guy. Shared many laughs. Brad was a real softy when you truly spent any time with him. Sadly he was lost at sea. His name is on the walls in the Seaman`s Bethel. A real great guy.
Brad was a tough kid-a good athlete, and a worthy opponent.Most of all he was a good friend. He was a teamate @ Normandin, but a rival in our Colt League days. He played for the Dodgers, coached by my father-who was his big fan. Together they delighted in our head-to-head meetings.In fact, they won a chamionship in1963. I've still got their trophy. Hope they are still on the same team. Both left the game way too soon....R.I.P.
