I remember Michael from Mr. Whittey's History class Senior year and the NBHS Track Team.  He was a good guy, smart student, and he had an amazing career in the New Bedford School system.  Rest in Peace.

Mike was one of my best friends in Jr High and High School.  He taught me lessons that would last a lifetime.  He and I, Marty Bakken, and Greg Bell were tight, along with Ralph Tucker in Jr. High. I will always remember Mike as the guy with the smile, always ready to help you, always concerned with who you were as a person, and open to everyone. He is gone too young, but as Mary Frye put it so eloquently, "Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die."  Mike will live in my memory forever.

My first memory of Mike was from second grade, making him the 'oldest' friend I had.  We were in different courses, Mike in College, myself in Business.  I remember that he would have a book inside his textbook, half paying attention, but still able to Ace the class. After Graduation, Mike went off to Brown, I went to Nursing School.
We didn't run into each other again until 1971, I built my home in Westport, surprisingly, Mike and his wife and daughter built next door. We had a gate between our yards to make it easy for the children to play. His daughter Bethany and my  oldest son P.J. were the same age, they grew up doing everything together. Mike was a a great influence to my children, always patient and kind, ever the teacher. Mike and Pam were Godparents to my youngest, Christopher.
Mike was a wonderful man, had a gentle soul, quick wit, a heart of gold. He was a fantastic Father, a great husband to Pam, and the best next-door neighbor anyone ever had. Today I have cried, not only for him and his family but for my own loss, and because the world has lost an amazing, gifted teacher.
