Making a difference

The Sunshine Club link is up and running. The first posting is in support of classmate Ray DeTerra's grandkids. I activated the site on Monday  and went back to edit a few things on Thursday. In that span of two days, the medical fundraiser jumped from $1350 to $1950. I want to believe that putting the fundraiser link on our website has made an impact!

What a wonderful idea to reach out and help others.

Best wishes also to Jose Ganzalves, Jim Casey and Richard Dupuis and wishing them speedy recoveries.

I'm sure the response to the post did make a difference. Elisabeth will begin chemotherapy on Sunday and her Brother, Grayson, will start in a week or so. It's a long and difficult journey for all of us, but especially for two 1 year old babies trying to become toddlers in a room at the Ronald McDonald House at the University of Minnesota Transplant Center.  Many thanks to the editors of this web page and to everyone who is praying for these innocent children. The Class of '65 will always be the best!!

July 15 update:  Dear Classmates.  Thank you all for your prayers.  Please keep them coming. I'm sure many of you have endured adversity of one sort or other over the years, but the DeTerras are in new territory. Elisabeth continues to gain ground and is nearly 100% donor cells at this point.  However, Grayson's trans[lant has apparently failed.  As of this date his donor cells are down to about 1%. A second try will probably be attempted but the stress on him and on his parents is tremendous.  His Mother has been in MInnesota for 4 months, separated from her 6 year old and husband in Seattle.  Now it will probably be another 4 months before any hope of returning home..  Grayson is still "Mr Smiley" but if the transplant doesn't work he will soon show signs of cellular deterioration. Please pray that the next transplant of stem cells or bone marrow works and that Grayson will return home at the end of the process and lead a much improved life.  Thank you again, very much.
