Reflections on our Class of '65 August 2011 events

Got back to home to S. Florida and everyone asked me how was the class reunion. I loved sharing the highlights and felt happy to describe how much fun the August 2011 events were. Once again, I appreciate the work that Nancy put into planning the Cape Cod canal cruise, the cocktail hour and dinner. It wasn't meant to be a formal full fledge reunion, but an informal get together, mini reunion, if you will.

I was lucky to have been primed for fun by being on vacation in Massachusetts for almost two weeks before the class events, so I was in a have the fun state of mind. But it really was. For me the class of '65 activities started with the Wednesday Jam Session and I have to say, the guys sound great. As you all know, Don Gamache and Dave Medeiros organized a jam session and they and others play classic songs and sing and play and laugh. So much fun.

Since reconnecting last year, I kept in touch with several people.  Deborah Amaral Weinstein, Irene Patnaude Jardin, Edna, Linda Cory and others made time to visit with me.   Then Thursday after dinner, Linda Cory and I along with her husband went to what has become the class "hang out" The Six Bristol to enjoy music. Now, I can't help singing along, well, to be polite to the performer, of course. It was meant to be audience participation, right?  And then breakfast with the ladies Sat. morning.

Friday, it was a moon lit night on old Cape Cod and mature baby boomers morphed into energetic party people. First many of us met at a local pizza place and that was fun, then the cruise was just lovely. The scenery beautiful, the sunset breathtaking and the people warm and friendly. That's the best part of all, it wasn't about old cliques reuniting. It wasn't about jocks replaying the big games once again. It wasn't about which ones lived in the North End, the West End, etc. It was about people who felt lucky to be alive and well and be able to join people with whom they share a long ago connection celebrate today!

So, when do we do it again?
