Febuary 2015:

NBHS Class of 1965 Classmate Raymond J. Deterra's twin grandchildren 13 months of age are ill with a disease called Hurler's Syndrome. They required Enzyme Replacement Therapy and Stem Cell/Bone Marrow Transplants. Ray's daughter-in-law, Katie will accompany her twins to Minnesota for the treatments and must take an unpaid leave of absence. A computer-based funding site has been created, and has raised nearly $2000 out of a targeted amount of $5000 for medical and travel expenses as of February 11 . The funraiser will expire in early April. For more information, please click on and confer with the link below for Grayson Pierce DeTerra and twin sister Elisabeth Cadence DeTerra.  Donations and prayers welcomed.

UPDATE

From:  Raymond Deterra
Email:  grayling507@gmail.com

It has been a while since the last post on my twin grandchildren. There have been several bumps along the way, including viruses, bacterial infections, aspiration pneumonia and, most recently, the possibility that Grayson may be rejecting the donor cells he received a few months ago. Originally scheduled to go home from MN to WA, in July, it now looks like the duration will be several months longer as Grayson is administered an experimental drug to try to boost his donor cells from the current 50% to the desired 90%. Unfortunately, this means the family will be separated even longer than anticipated. Grayson is very fragile but still maintains his "Mr. Smiley" attitude when he's not drugged up. Despite the setbacks for Grayson and the periodic issues with Elisabeth, we remain hopeful and ask for as many of your prayers as you can muster. Thank You very much. Ray DeTerra

ANNOUNCEMENTS

August 14, 2016

From Ray De Terra

Final comments and thank you's to all of my classmates who cared to care about my twin Grand Children.

The DeTerra Grand Children, Elisabeth and Grayson are doing well, after a year in Minnesota getting stem cell transplants and several other bumps in the road at home in Samammish, WA. Elisabeth, in particular, is a typical 2 1/2 year old, talking, walking, being full of mischief. Grayson has had more issues and is not quite walking yet. Most of his issue stem from an earlier episode of near SIDS when he was less than two months old and suffered some brain damage while he was down for 45 minutes and on life support. Still, he is a smiley little guy and will always have a great disposition. We love them both and thank everyone who loves and cares without even knowing them.
